　　　　排气阀烧损是排气阀最常见故障。主要原因是排气阀密封不严，造成高温燃气泄漏，使该处严重过热，甚至熔穿金属材料。造成排气阀密封不良的原因主要有以下几点：⑴由于阀盘不同部位的形状、厚度不同，受热、散热条件不同，阀盘圆周上的温度分布不均匀，中心温度高于周边温度，造成气阀阀盘径向上的温度差，过大的温差将造成阀盘的变形从而导致漏气的产生。⑵船用燃油中含有的杂质在经过燃烧室内的各种复杂热过程后在排气阀阀盘及阀座密封锥面沉积成一层混有碳粒的玻璃状较硬较脆物质，其内混有硫酸钠、硫酸钙、氧化铁等物质。当此层玻璃状沉积物沉积厚度过大时，在闭阀时的撞击力下会发生裂纹，反复撞击后进而发展成剥落，从而形成高温燃气喷出通道使气阀烧损。⑶普通排气阀密封锥面在工作温度下硬度并不是很高，沉积的硬质燃烧产物颗粒在闭阀的撞击下，可使密封面出现凹坑，从而形成漏气。
